2.6.0 · Helm 2.6.0: The Back-to-School Release · 1y+

Make sure this Helm upgrade is on your school supply list. 🏫

Helm 2.6.0 is a feature release. In keeping with the Kubernetes theme, we have focused on stability and security in this release, limiting our enhancements to things that improve the reliability of Helm in production.

This version of Helm is compiled against Kubernetes 1.7. There are no major feature additions. However, there are over 90 changes that improve overall stability and usability of the system. We strongly encourage users to upgrade.

The community keeps growing, and we'd love to see you there.

Installation and Upgrading

Download Helm 2.6. The common platform binaries are here:

Once you have the client installed, upgrade Tiller with helm init --upgrade.

The Quickstart Guide will get you going from there. For upgrade instructions or detailed installation notes, check the install guide. You can also use a script to install on any system with bash.

What's Next

  • 2.6.1 will contain only bug fixes.
  • 2.7.0 is the next feature release. While it is likely to have some notable features, we will continue to prioritize stability and reliability over major feature additions.

NOTE: After several attempts to create an authorization system for Tiller (#1918), we have agreed to wait upon upstream Kubernetes for a solution to the authentication problem. This item has thus been removed from the 2.6 and 2.7 roadmap.
